Participants may not advance on the route by any means other than bicycling or in the case of a mechanical, by foot. No support or finish times will be available after 5:30! If you exit the course for food, supplies, or any other reason, you must re-enter in the same spot in which you left. Riders may take their own maps or GPS system for navigational assistance. Course maps and cue sheets will be available at registration. The route will be marked, but don't rely completely on route markings (they have been vandalized in the past). NO SHORT CUTS OR ALTERNATE ROUTES ARE PERMITTED. The primary ride route must be followed at all times. Although you might not have service on all parts of the course, a whistle will be your next best option. This route is more challenging and approximately a 17 mile round trip. Route A begins in Middle Amana at the entrance to the (), riders will travel to West Amana. It has become a top tourism attraction in Iowa with over 1 million visitors per year. In 1932, the Amana Society chose to abandoned the communal ways. In latter days, the villages were communal with families living, working, and eating together. The Amana Colonies are a set of seven historic villages spaced approximately 7 miles apart. While on the gravel routes, the riders will experience historical points of interest in Middle Amana, Amana](1524407), and Amana](1524408). The routes each begin in Middle Amana, separating into the longer Route A going to West Amana and the shorter () going to High Amana. The first () Gravel Bike Routes are ready for use.
